I am fascinated with color and pattern and continually explore the world of fabric and design. I love to combine and layer multiple repeating elements in my work, bringing rhythm and movement to the canvas. The play of organic or geometric design along with varying color combinations visually enriches the image and evokes joy.
This love of patterns, and specifically textiles, led me to use my paintings as a basis for fabric design. I'm taking the creative process full circle painting images that incorporate patterns, and then creating fabrics based on those paintings. Working with high resolution digital images of my work, I crop sections and arrange them in a repeat, fine tuning the layout and finally sending the file to my printer for a test sample.
I work with a printer in Durham, North Carolina who uses high quality base frabrics and eco-friendly inks. All fabrics are printed on demand, so there is very little waste. For my base fabric I mainly use a cotton/linen blend, short cut velvet and organic cotton sateen. These are very versitle for a wide range of applications from pillows, table or bed linens to drapery and upholstery. I have over 60 fabric designs and am happy to work with you to find the right one for your project.
